The Running Gorillas have started 2013 on many good Brew Notes.
January 1st was celebrated with The Living Legend’s Annual Champagne and Chili Run. Besides the chili, black-eyed peas and cabbage, numerous champagnes and sparkling wines were enjoyed. Along with the run, food, champagne and camaraderie, one of the highlights of the day was South Carolina (The Gamecock’s favorite team) whipping up on Michigan (sorry Missing Link).
The year has continued with the Red River Road Runners’ Winter Fun Run Series. Psycho Jeff, The Gamecock and Doc participated in the event. A special “What’s On Tap” Four Miler was completed by two of the three Gorillas. The four-miler included a two-mile run to the pub, consumption of a pint of beer, and then another two-mile run. Visit RedRiverRoadRunners.org for more details on future events.
The Running Gorillas have welcomed a new G.I.T. (Gorilla-in-Training). The G.I.T. has performed quite well. He has blessed the Gorillas with Dogfish Head 90-Minute IPA. He participated in the Sportspectrum’s 2013 Dustbuster Duathlon, where he finished second in his age group, while using Doc’s time-trial bike. Go you new G.I.T.
On Sunday, the Gorillas had their weekly religious gathering.
The following beers were enjoyed following the one-hour run.
Wexford Irish Style Cream Ale
Maharaja Indian Pilsner
Nimbus Red Ale
Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse Ale
Saint Arnold Elissa IPA
Twisted Pine Hoppy Boy IPA
Mount Pleasant Freight Train Double IPA
New Belgium Ranger IPA (The favorite brew of the day)
Founders Breakfast Stout (the runner-up)
The closer for the weekly ceremony was, as always, Cave Creek Chili Beer.
For Those of You not present, you were missed.
And remember, the Thirsty Quest continues…
